VERY RARE!

From a ONE-YEAR-ONLY production of approx. 900 UNITS, this highly desirable and sought after beautifully restored example of the SOFT TOP MODEL offered by Ford Motor Company’s Mercury Division has to be one of the FINEST IN EXISTENCE. Unfortunately less then a handful (most in various stages of rust and disrepair) exist today!

A painstaking refurbishment, finally completed in January 2007, features a practical combination of late-model undercarriage/power train together with PERIOD-CORRECT pertinent external features.

The finely detailed, original chassis has been re-engineered to accommodate contemporary running gear in the form of a Brassworks multi-tubed, hi-finned radiator, Ford 302ci engine with Jet Red Hot-coated headers, a dual exhaust system, C-4 trans., Posies Super leaf spring-mounted Ford 8-inch rear end, & power disc/drum brakes. The engine & compartment are completely detailed.

Mustang 2 Fabrications independent front suspension and power steering are additional modern conveniences, as are original Kelsey-Hayes T-Bird chrome-spoke wheels mounting wide whitewall radials. The “T Bird” hubcaps are also sporting a custom one only casting of the “Mercury” logo finished in gold.

Interior-wise, the elegantly styled cloth upholstery is complemented by posh Wilton wool carpeting, new wood grain on the dash and window frames, plus incorporation of matching period-style spoke steering wheel mounted on a tilt column. Air conditioning and tinted glass are further modern day conveniences.

The highly detailed, Mercedes top grain, tan fabric convertible top features a period correct chrome-framed, folding glass rear window.

Also in situ in this six-seater are extremely rare accessories, including the NOS Mercury-embossed front bumper guard and fog lights, together with double-compound convex-curved tear-drop skirts.

The car’s remotely operated trunk lid has been shaved and a contemporary frenched stoplight with a recessed MERC 40 license plate is incorporated therein. A custom flush mounted teardrop designed gas filler flap has also been added.

Providing for the perfect completion, the body work has been finished in DuPont two-stage period color metallic Mandarin Maroon.

It won its class in the prestigious 2007 California Grand National Roadster Show.

The amalgamation of Modified, low-stance styling and all its contemporary updates readily allow its proud owner to show it and travel anywhere. In all weather one might enjoy listening to AM/FM, CD music in ultimate style and comfort. Offered at $135k.
