1958 OLDSMOBILE 98
This “Class of 1958” Oldsmobile was General Motors Harley Earl’s, over the top to excess, chrome and stainless Deco/Neo Classic design. This outlandish but beautiful style had not been seen before this 1958 Olds nor since!
This car is generally unmolested and bone stock. It was the result of the original owner’s restoration started in 1988. The repaint is the original two tone style and color, as is the pleat and roll stainless trimmed interior. The mint outlandish dash appears to be from a spaceship! The original set of stainless hubcaps doesn’t have so much as a blemish on them. The trunk is large enough to complement four of your friends into the local drive-in movie! It has full power including windows and seat. The new set of 5 extra wide whitewalls has only 100 miles or so on them.
In 1998 was also the last time the car was registered then showing an odometer reading of 72,958 original miles. During the following almost twenty year on and off restoration period the odometer reading now only shows 73,045 miles! During its restoration period this unusual minimal accumulation of miles (87) was the result of the car mostly being trailered to paint and upholstery shops. From its base in Santa Ana California it was driven locally for less involved restorations. e.g.; new brakes, duel exhaust including tail pipes, major engine tune up, new wide white wall tires, and alignment.
This original restoration was completed in 1997, shortly thereafter the original owner passed away. During the following almost eleven year period it was stored in a garage under a car cover.
Starting in December of 07 and continuing through February of 08 a through refurbishing was completed and the black plate license brought up to date.
